Safety First is an acronym that is common knowledge which implies invest first into safety before investing into any risk probable venture.
If most of us are these disposed a lot of accident especially in these regards, fire accidents can be nipped in the bud.
We believe investing 10% of your asset into protecting the same is worth it and in actual fact only about 1% will generally be required for fire alarm and protection. It means if you put all your asset together to be worth N10,000,000.00, you need N100, 000.00 to provide for fire alarm and basic protection.
Fire alarm system Alerts with projected horn sound in the event of smoke and fire out break. Since most fire outbreak happen in stages : first smoke and then fire, the alarm system detect the presence of smoke and trigger the sounder to operate, alerting available personnel to take necessary action to prevent or stop fire outbreak.
The gas or smoke or heat detectors are located at fire rated or probable locations and at required spacing for very large room. We also have other detectors for factories and other fire rated environment. We also have devices that can initiate the alarm like fire break glass device that any one can break to trigger the fire alarm system.
There are provisions also to indicate the zone or the exact location of the smoke or fire outbreak which can be called fire alarm or repeater panel. This will aid fire fighters to manage evacuation of people and the fire fighting activities.
Fire alarm system can be both cable networked and@ wireless network. Wireless is an emerging technology and this simplifies the installation especially for existing infrastructures.
Fire fighting equipment can be the very basic fire extinguisher which are in powder, liquid or gaseous form. This can be adequately designed for and sized by a trained Engineer and located and required rooms, corridors and side walks. Trained personnel must be handy to operate with very minimal skill.
The more complex type required specialised skill in pipework design and pump sizing. The most common is a dry system where the pipe is connected to a water source in the event of fire. The other type, wet system is a pressurised system with water sprinklers at various locations in the facility. Then FM200, another complex system for fire alarm and fighting for very sensitive equipment rooms.
What we stand to loose in the event of fire are sometimes irreparable and to spent an extra token will be well deserving if fire incidentally poses a treat.
Always remember -SAFETY FIRST!!!!
